Individual Chalkboards

Chalkboards are recommended to be used  with  the ‘Magic Caterpillar - Handwriting:  A Process to Teach Correct Letter Formation’.   Not only do the boards provide kinaesthetic feedback during the early stages of the handwriting process, but the use of small pieces of chalk also assists children with developing the correct pincer grip which is required for writing with a pencil.     The chalkboards are plain black - without writing. The picture shows how they are used.

In the initial steps of this handwriting process,  children write with chalkboards balanced mid line  on their laps.  At this stage,  chalkboards also provide children with the opportunity to develop the important skill of 'crossing the midline' - which is crucial to success in later stages of writing.

The boards come in standard black chalkboard colour and  all boards need to be primed before use.  Instructions for priming accompany each board.
